👆 Fingerprint Setup Guide

Register your fingerprint on your smart lock so you can unlock it with a touch — no phone, no key, no passcode needed.

⚠️
Before you start: Your lock must have a built-in fingerprint reader. Not all smart locks include this feature — check your lock model's specifications to confirm.
📱
Bluetooth required: Your phone must be within 3 metres of the lock during the entire registration process. Fingerprint registration happens over Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi.

✅ What You Need

📱 Buckko Locks app installed on your phone
🔒 A smart lock with a fingerprint reader
📡 Bluetooth turned on — and your phone within 3m of the lock
🔋 Lock battery above 20% (low battery can interrupt registration)
👤 You must be the lock owner or have admin access

👆 Part 1 — Register Your Own Fingerprint

1

Open the Buckko Locks app and go to your Home screen.

2

Tap the lock you want to add your fingerprint to.

3

Tap Settings (gear icon) → Fingerprints.

4

Tap "Add Fingerprint" — the app will connect to the lock via Bluetooth. Make sure you're standing close to the lock.

5

When prompted, press your finger on the lock's fingerprint sensor. Lift and press again — repeat 4–6 times until the app confirms registration.

6

Give the fingerprint a name (e.g. "Right thumb — John") and tap Save.

7

Test it — press your finger on the lock sensor. The lock should open within 1–2 seconds. ✅

💡
Tip: Register the same finger 2–3 times for better accuracy, especially if your fingertips are often dry or calloused.

👥 Part 2 — Register a Guest or Family Member's Fingerprint

1

First, share access with the person via the app (send them an eKey under Share → Send eKey).

2

Ask the guest to open the Buckko Locks app on their own phone and log in.

3

They tap the shared lock → Settings → Fingerprints → Add Fingerprint.

4

Their phone connects to the lock via Bluetooth. They press their finger on the sensor 4–6 times to enroll.

5

They name the fingerprint and tap Save. Done — they can now unlock the door with their fingerprint.

⚠️
Important: As the lock owner, you can view and delete any registered fingerprint from your app at any time — even ones registered by guests.

🗂 Part 3 — Managing Registered Fingerprints

1

Go to your lock → Settings → Fingerprints to see all registered fingerprints.

2

To delete a fingerprint, swipe left on it or tap the fingerprint → Delete. This takes effect immediately.

3

To rename a fingerprint, tap it and edit the name.

🔧 Troubleshooting

The app can't connect to the lock during registration
Make sure Bluetooth is on and you're within 3 metres of the lock. Close and reopen the app and try again. If the lock is connected to another device, disconnect it first.
The fingerprint sensor isn't responding
Clean the sensor with a dry cloth. Make sure your finger is dry and flat against the sensor. Avoid using the very tip of your finger — press the pad of your finger instead.
Registration keeps failing after several attempts
Check your lock battery level — registration requires stable power. Try charging or replacing the batteries and attempt again.
Fingerprint unlocks sometimes but not always
Re-register the same finger 2–3 times to improve accuracy. This is especially helpful if your fingertips are dry or calloused.
I can't see the Fingerprints option in Settings
Your lock model may not have a fingerprint reader. Check the lock model specifications or contact support at support@buckkolocks.com.au.
I want to delete all fingerprints at once
Go to lock Settings → Fingerprints → tap the menu (⋮) → Delete All. This will remove all registered fingerprints from the lock immediately.
